Youngstown State University prides itself in catering to the needs of its military and veteran student population. YSU boasts a 1.4 million dollar Veterans Resource Center which houses, the Veterans Affairs Office, and several amenities such as a student lounge, computer lab, study hall, kitchen, conference room, HD Cable TV, video gaming, and programming for veterans students.

YSU provides services such as application fee waivers, priority registration, "Vets Only" courses, Veterans Advisory Council and a chapter of the Student Veterans of America (SVA). YSU also has an Army and Air Force ROTC program.
